WORM (Write Once Read Many)
Similar technology to MO, using a laser to alter the state of the media. However, once the state has been altered, it cannot be changed. There are several different versions of WORM, such as Ablative, Alloy and CCW.

An optical disc technology which allows disc sectors to be written only once, after which they cannot then be modified. A WORM disc requires a special type of file system, since most file systems assume that disc sectors can be re-written as necessary.

XFS (eXtended File System)
A virtual filesystem that is made up of fast file lookup indexes, file caches and a collection of discs grouped together to appear as a single filesystem. A network interface is used to access the files and jukebox library system. The end-user sees the filesystem as if it is a large storage area on the network. Different types of XFSs are available to access different groups of media, some read only, some read / write and some write once.
